LIBRARY_
Central to the Slit’s mission and in the heart of the programming space, the library serves as a portal to ideas, histories and emotions. We believe books contain the power to inspire new perspectives, expand our humanity and bring us together.

The Library R & R emerged as a way to formalize the ethos of sharing and creation. Rather than imposing rigid structures, the residency is designed to remain fluid, encouraging experimentation and self-directed work. The goal of the residency is to foster process and support the work of artists of diverse practices and backgrounds.
The library offers:
A curated collection of over 700 books, catalogues, journals and magazines.
A quiet work space for deep focus, research and experimentation.
Opportunities for engaging community with workshops, talks and exhibitions.
We accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. Please email us for an application.

2025 LIBRARY RESIDENTS_
Amber Imrie’s library residency will focus on research for their upcoming solo exhibition, The Year My Heart Turned to Water.
Amber Imrie’s The Year My Heart Turned to Water, explores the queer experience through the metaphors of erosion, transformation, and the cultural and natural landscapes of the Ozarks. This body of work weaves together themes of longing, resilience, and reclamation, reflecting the interconnectedness of identity, tradition, and place. Through textile-based works, sculptures, photographs, and audio-visual elements, the exhibition becomes a site of layered storytelling, where the personal and the geological converge.
