Our Story and Vision_

The Slit began as a seed of an idea, planted over a decade ago when Azadeh moved into her first expanded studio space. This milestone marked more than just a physical expansion; it became the foundation for something much larger. Azadeh’s multidisciplinary art practice, deeply rooted in the principles of community and connection, began to extend beyond her own creative pursuits. Her vision was to cultivate a space that could champion, share, and amplify the often unseen voices and overlooked issues that exist on the margins.

Over time, this vision grew organically, shaping The Slit into more than just a studio. It transformed into a vibrant platform for collaboration and creativity. What started as a personal workspace evolved into a hub for artists, thinkers, and change-makers to come together. Through carefully curated programming, artist residencies, and thought-provoking workshops, The Slit became a space where stories are told, perspectives are broadened, and meaningful dialogues are sparked.

At its core, The Slit remains dedicated to fostering a sense of community while creating opportunities for connection, expression, and empowerment. It is a place where art becomes a vehicle for change, and where every voice has a chance to be seen and heard. This ethos continues to guide us, shaping everything we do as we seek to inspire, engage, and impact the world around us.
